          Abhiyan Nepal is an Non Governmental social development organization based in Sunsari district of eastern Nepal established on the first day of 2000 AD. We are committed for the promotion of social justice, human rights, pro poor people based democracy and governance. We are currently facilitating the peoople right based movement from the grass root level and link it upto the policy making authority.

          The armed conflict, which begun in 1996, started having effects in the eastern development region within four years time. The armed conflict, on the one hand, had obstructed development activities and on the other, it had limited employment opportunities and business. There was violence, abduction and intimidation in villages. This was gradually frustrating the youths. Fresh discussions on human rights, social justice, democracy and change had started along with the pessimism created by the armed conflict. Such a discourse had created a new social momentum. New hopes and possibilities were emerging amidst dissatisfaction. It was necessary to keep alive such new discourses, creation and possibilities, which was a challenging task.

Abhiyan Initiatives

Abhiyan Nepal has successfully conducted the following major activities in partnership with its partner organization and local community. Some of the programs were conducted from its internal resources and with active participation of the local community themselves in the initiatives of Abhiyan Nepal. Human rights, public awareness, public participation and pro poor campaign is the main motto of all the activities carried by the organization.

Latest News/Events

Abhiyan Nepal has started this campaign from two districts of eastern region- Sunsari and Morang, and has aimed at expanding tomore districts in future. The program has formed the local service receivers own organization termed as ‘people’s council’. 20 local level, two district level and one central level people’s council have been formed so far, which are undergoing through an institutional development process.
